At SRJ, we have implemented various environmentally friendly measures to reduce our carbon footprint. As a SEPA regulated business since the 1990s, we prioritise recycling and proper waste disposal. Our recycling systems are comprehensive, ensuring that as much waste as possible is recycled.
For instance, we separate and recycle glass panes and panels, exceeding 45,000 kg in 2024 alone. Additionally, we shred and recycle uPVC frames, recycling over 140 tonnes in the same year. Metal waste, including door and window handles, is also recycled, contributing to our commitment to sustainability. Furthermore, we recycled over 300 tonnes of timber in 2022, 2023 and 2024, showcasing our dedication to responsible sourcing and waste reduction. We also recycle 4-5 tonnes of paper, cardboard, plastic, and polythene annually.
To achieve our goal of a zero landfill policy, our waste partner and I repurpose non recyclable materials and send them to MVV Energy for waste. This innovative approach ensures that even materials that cannot be recycled are utilised efficiently, with heat captured and used to heat homes and businesses. We have also implemented a more energy efficient vehicle fuelling strategy to support our sustainability goals. This has reduced our annual road miles by thousands.
